On Borrowed Time

Monthly campus meetings on topics related to climate change

On Borrowed Time Campus Meetings

The "On Borrowed Time" series is an opportunity for all of the TAU community - academic and administrative faculty, students and partners - to find time within their busy schedules to discuss pressing climate change issues, learn about new topics and exchange ideas for action on campus and more widely.

The meetings take place monthly during the semester, with each meeting focusing on a different topic and featuring a range of speakers, both TAU lecturers and outside organizations. Each 90 minute meeting leaves time for discussion and input from the audience. Through the series we have increased dialogue across departments and different parts of the university community, enabling participants to find common areas of interest and partnerships that can support how we address the climate crisis within an academic community.

Meetings In this series have focused on the following topics:

  • The question of methane - why has methane become central to the climate agenda? How much can it be reduced? (February 2022)
  • Low Carbon University - Tel Aviv University's carbon emissions reduction program (January 2023)
  • Climate Crisis Denial  (February 2023)
  • Carbon markets (April 2023)
  • Is there a connection between the climate crisis and employment? (May 2023)
  • Our food and the climate crisis (June 2023)
