The Climate Ambassadors Club
Students from Social Involvement Unit TAU during a Climate change class at Porter School
Climate Ambassadors is a scholarship program that is the result of the partnership between PLANET ZERO and The Unit for Students' Social Involvement at Tel Aviv University.
It is implemented for the second year in a row.
What they do
- 16 students learn about climate change (5 classes of 3 hours each) from senior and experienced teams at Porter School.
- The 16 students trained from the Unit welcome on campus six groups of gifted low-income pupils from and across Israel.
- The students use storytelling to stress and communicate the importance of Academic enrollment for social mobility.
- They teach the children about Climate change (Awareness and acting) using informal and experiential educational methods.
- Impacts the project has created:
- Meeting of about 450 children with role models (University students) to whom the children are inspired and get a sense of increased confidence and motivation for studies
- Experiential visit to TAU including a short lecture by TAU professors on Climate Change at Porter Auditorium. The visits and lectures help children gain new experiences and broaden their horizons with a new and more rounded perspective on life.
- Raising awareness of Climate Emergency and the importance of climate action. This makes the children and everyone that goes through the program feel more connected to their community and thereby developing a sense of civic responsibility and becoming patriots for nature.
