Behavior and Consumption

Behavior and Consumption

Sustainable consumption and longevity cluster deals with reducing consumption, encouraging sustainable consumption and promoting a sustainable lifestyle.

The cluster operates in cooperation with entities from the public and business sectors. The cluster team is engaged in identifying and characterizing relevant areas, both in terms of carbon emissions and in relation to factors that are not adequately addressed and in identifying ways of intervention that include building a toolbox that has different approaches to intervention based on existing research knowledge. The cluster will bring together several areas of specialization at TAU  for an interdisciplinary work group.

There is often a focus on technologies as solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (e.g. renewable energy, electric vehicles, energy efficiency, etc.). The role of individual behavior and sustainable consumption is often less clear. Many fields of research such as psychology, sociology, economics, history, policy and communication can contribute to understanding personal consumption and the role of individuals in the transition to a low-carbon economy.
